Nutrition is a basic biological necessity, integral to our health. Life cannot be sustained without food. But our bodies need foods that provide nourishment, not just sustenance, to ensure each body system thrives to its full potential. Without a strong basis in nutrition education, we grow vulnerable to falling in traps created by misinformation and diet culture.
Tohum Nutrition is for humans who move. Whether you are an active individual or an elite athlete, you have both health needs and performance goals. We work together not only to ensure that your needs and goals are fulfilled, but also that you acquire the knowledge, skills, or environment to pursue the success long-term. We do this by individualizing care, using evidence driven claims to merge nutritional recommendations with your specific training regimen and daily routine.

Meet Serra Tumay
Serra Tumay, MS, RD is an internationally recognized performance dietitian and the founder of Tohum Nutrition LLC, a nutrition counseling and consulting practice specializing in personalized nutrition with clients ranging from elite professional athletes and entertainers to active individuals and families.
Serra received a BA in Sociology from New York University in 2013. She later went on to obtain a Master of Science degree in Nutrition and Exercise Physiology from Teachers College Columbia University, where she also completed her dietetic internship.
Before committing her time fully to Tohum Nutrition, Serra worked as Head of Nutrition for Aston Villa FC in the English Premier League, where she was responsible for implementing performance nutrition strategies to support the men’s first team. Formerly she worked as the Performance Nutrition Intern for the Cleveland Browns as well as Olympic Sports Performance Dietitian at UCLA Athletics.
Serra is able to use her applied experiences coupled with her own athletic background as a prior collegiate and Turkish Women’s National Team soccer player to best relate with the individuals she works with. She has appeared on numerous podcasts and media outlets and was a contributing author in the book Winning Mindset: Elite Strategies for Peak Performance.
